2/6 or 3/8 Fireline? I have been jigging with 3/8 but it is tough to break off when I snag up. Should I go to 2/6? Any opinions? Or should I choose a different brand?

I've been using 2/6 since it came out and like it very well. I've found it easier to break off when I snag up if I use a piece of round 3/4" dowel, wrap the line around it a couple of times and then pull on the dowel, although sometimes I just end up straightening the hook and freeing the jig. Try the 2/6, I think you'll like it. Good Luck! Fred

2/6 is great so is 3/8 all you have to do is run a 3 to 4 foot leader from a crane or small barrel swivel in between and you will be able to break free and the swivel takes the twist out at the saome time for those windy days.

Thanks for the help. I believe I will go with some 2/6 this year. I have some dowels in the garage. I will toss a chunk in the boat for when I snag up. Thanks again!

MNinnesota i was to tell you to run that 3 to 4 foot leader out of 8 to 10 pd mono
I would also recommend the green fireline if you are going to buy a new spool. It has made a big difference in my fish catching success, being able to see the line twitch, slack, swim to the side, etc. puts fish in the boat that you don't always feel.

I will give the green a try for vertical jigging. I know what you are saying. I have been using XT Solar mono for tossing jigs towards the bank. You see a lot of bites that you otherwise would not feel. Thanks!
