Find the Fig Rig banner and e-mail Kevin. I'm sure he's got something he can show you. He was supposed to update his website with pics, but got dumped on by demand. Rods first, pics, sometime.

Thanks Terry, I will email him. Do you have any comments on the Fiber Max rods? Compare to......?

Trying to keep this post alive. I'm considering picking up a 6'6 ML Fig Rig spinning rod and was hoping someone could share their experience with the brand.

Go for it. Nice fast rod with excellent sensitivity and great backbone. The 601 is perfect for jigging, casting and rigging.

Enjoy!

Thanks for responding Aqua Man. I did an archive search on these rods and saw you had alot of positive things to say about them. It looked like there was some problems for people getting their order on time but the people who had them did have good comments on them. I am looking at a Fiber Max 661 or 662 for casting jigs mostly. Is it true they use a fiber optic material inside the graphite blank? In your opinion, is this as sensitive as a Loomis and St. Croix blank? What type of handle do they use for a spinning reel? Is it a graphite/cork reel seat or do they use the rings? Now that you and some others have owned this rod for awhile, what does everybody think of them?

For anyone in the Mpls area, I believe Fig Rig will have a booth at the MN Walleye Expo at Canterbury Park in Shakopee on Feb. 2,3 & 4. Good place to check out their rods and get your questions answered.

You can either get a regular reel seet or you can get a cork tennessee handle. The tennesse does not come with rings. You will have to tape your reel on. I like them both.

As far as actions go, I like both the 601 and 602 fiber max. The 661 and 662 compare about the same its just that they are 6 inches longer and tend to have a little softer tip. You will like the 662 if you are fishing heavier jigs in current or are long lining live bait or jigs. The 661 will be nicer for casting up to 3/8 oz stuff, throwen slip bobbers and fishing lighter stuff up close. The 61/2 footers work nice for pulling spinners too. I use co-polimer line and perfer the heavier action. As far as sensitivie goes the 602 Fiber Max is very comparable to the Loomis 722 GLX.

Have fishin_fool haul a couple out for you. Good Luck, Tom

Thanks for your input T-Mac. Sounds like the 661 is probably better for my situation. Now when you say a regular reel seat, what do you mean? I like a graphite/cork combination where the front adjustable part is a graphite piece with cork around it and this screws over the reel stem. I dont know the exact term for it but basically there is not individual rings exposed on the blank. Is this the type reel seat you mean? The other type to me would be like the St. Croix rod has, where there is an exposed ring that adjusts over the reel stem.

WA, I think the fig rig reel seat would be more like the the St. Croix. It's an all graphite reel seet with an adustable threaded ring. Hope it helps. Tom
