will be getting a new sonar unit this year at some point-i was going to try to get some help reading contours and get the new generation of "bug free" Pinpoint to use at the trollin motor to use with X-85 in the rear--fish the Mississippi mostly. now im not so sure---i have emailed Motorguide regardeing the Pinpoint technology, asking simply at what shows they will be at to demonstrate the Pinpoint or comparable soon to come technologys--i have not gotten so much as a return acknowledgement from Motorguide--im not so sure i will go with Pinpoint now, i want to know there will be some backup if i spend that kind of money!

The Pinpoint sonar units are very very nice. Fantastic detail and the number of features that they provide really put your unit to work for you in so many circumstances. Plus being able to network units together and run them without interfearance makes the Pinpoint units the one I choose. The last two yeras I have actually given away or sold very cheep Lowrance units that came standard on my new Tritons to purchase the Pinpoint system. I run a 7420 in the bow, a 7520 at the console and a 7520 in the stern, all networked together. I love the flashchart real time flasher feature for running, the nightview is fantastic and the 24 month warranty says a lot.
GO PINPOINT!

Customer service is second to none. Pinpoint is a seperate company and in their own facility. You can contact them at 1-800-474-7550.

Hey doc, just curious why you like a 7420 better on the bow? I've been running 3 7520's on my boats, but am always open to suggestions.
