Hiway Bait & Tackle

Hello, it’s Saturday morning. Having another good day on Lake Erie. Lots of people going fishing. Most are either going perch fishing or smallmouth bass fishing. Some are going for walleyes, but the water is still a little stained from the wind Monday and Tuesday, and while they are waiting on the water to get clearer they are going for perch or bass. There were some walleyes caught yesterday. One load of guys that were out on a charter said they got 12. They were very happy with that. They said they were suppose to go for bass but they went for walleyes first, caught some, and stayed there and fished. They brought their bass bait back. I know of several charters that went for walleyes yesterday but I didn’t hear how they did. As for perch, there were people who didn’t do good because of the water, but there were people who did real good. Larry Lockel and his wife Jalane, had another couple with them, and they caught their 120 perch. He said they had 26 pounds to be cleaned. That would make a couple of good meals. Lots of people are going smallmouth bass fishing today, It’s just that time of the year. The bass are hungry this time of year, they are a little bigger, and some people just like the change from walleye fishing, and they are a lot of fun. They fight as soon as you get them on the hook, not just as you get them to the boat. The weather looks good thru Sunday and Monday morning, we might get a chance of rain in the afternoon and Tuesday. Good fishing & good luck. Don.
