Hi guys:
Just ordered a couple of Diawa line counter reels (47LC). Need to spool them up for some walleye trolling. Any suggestions on line? We will be pulling cranks or spinners with crawler or minnows.
Thanks.Judo

I prefer original 12 lb. Stren (.013 dia). Switched from 10 lb.XT (.0134 dia) and found it every bit as limp and abrasion resistant as the XT with the added strength. Also can still use the charts for trolling depths. Works for me! Tom

I use fireline 10lb. test. It gets my lures a little deeper and is abrasion resist. Maybe a little spendy but you can cheat and partially fill your spool with mono. Just don't get caught with too much line out!

I use the 27LC reels, and as I just posted in another message, I fill them with 1,000' of 12lb XT, which leaves just enough room on the spool for PowerPro 30lb. It's a versatile setup, and I've caught everything from perch to walleye to big rainbows to big lake trout.

Half fill'em with Mono and finish off until full with Fireline. The fireline doesn't have to be replaced for years if you clip the ends off every so often and re-tie so any frayed line is removed. I have line on my 27LC's that is five yrs. old. It might be faded but I have never broken off any fish due to bad line. I run the 20 lb. and 30 lb. line and don't worry about the fraying experienced with the light weight Fireline a lot of these guys use for jigging. Trolling line doesn't need to be invisible. You'll still catch fish. Limber rods and light drags with the Fireline.

I agree with Gunga Din! That's a great combination that will cover most any situation for fishing! In my line of work "LINE" is critical to say the least. I like both fire line and power pro. But from my personal experiences power pro will out do fire line when it come to wear and tear. Just my personal opinion. HUTCH Hang A Wall Hanger

I use Fireline 4/10 on an 8 1/2 foot rod that is fairly limber. I keep my drag kind of loose and turn the clicker on. This way, if I get a strike I will not lip rip em' and the sound of the clicker lets me know that I have a strike in case I am looking the other way. Good luck!

That's got to be one of the most exciting sounds in the world--hearing your clicker start singing fast and long!!
