I am interested in others thoughts about these two units in a side by side comparison taking into account the Cabelas SPECIAL is about 150.00 to 200.00 dollars less, (600.00 vs. 750.00 to 800.00 dollars) Thanks in advance, Beagle

I am going with the Cabelas Bottom Line special for a couple reasons. The BL is higher power, which translates into better differentiation. It also has a higher resolution screen. I don't need the dual freq, which is really to allow more depth capability. I liked the sidefinder capability of the BL. And, finally, by using an external GPS source, I can change to a mapping unit in the future if I decide I need (want) that.
I will be trying it out over the next couple weeks and will try to let you know what I think.
BTW...I have gotten much good info on these message boards. This has to be one of the best boat / fishing sites on the web, due to the open, helpful nature of the posts and discussions. Keep it up.

I would go with the Lowrance...because I want my equipment to work when I go fishing. With Bottomline I have had nothing but breakdown after breakdown. The folks at Bottomline are great about taking care of the problem...send me a new unit everytime...but it happened too many times. I just want my stuff to work when I am fishing.
With Lowrance I have not had the down time.
