I heard recently that the launch ramps at Cleveland's Edgewater Park were closed for the season. Is there any truth to this? If so, can someone give me locations for other launch ramps in the area? I'm interested in going up for perch. Anyone having any luck in the area? Thanks!

Had a Water Craft office speak to our club last Thursday. He said the Edgewater ramps will be closed for rebuilding until next spring. To the west try Rocky River metro park ramps to the east try 72 street or further east to Neff road Ohio Cleveland state park "Villa Angela St Joes" Park.

If you are going to Gordon park (72nd st.) and are coming from the west go one exit past E 72nd to Martin Luther King Blvd. When you exit turn to the left, then turn to the left on the first road, the ramp entrance will be on your right hand side to enter. IF you get off at 72nd st. coming from the west you can only turn RIGHT & you have to go down the road & make a U-Turn.
Good Luck !! Mr Ed

Make sure to lock your car or drive your beater because that parking lot is like a used car lot to the local natives if you know what I mean....

I don't see the problem with that comment. Anyone who uses that ramp on a regular basis knows what I mean. It's not my fault the friendly people who frequent the area can't keep their hands off of other peoples property. That comment could save someons car.. How often do you leave a nice car parked on E72 and MLK? Sorry once you come back to the dock and have your car gone or gone thru you'll feel the same....BEWARE
You bet that comment was called for ! ! ! What is wrong with you? If there was an area off Gordon Park that could destroy your boat or endanger your life, you would be thrilled that the folks on this list let you know before hand. Why take issue with problems on land? It is people with an attitude like yours who cry the loudest when some one "victimizes" you. Wake up to reality.
You need another screen name 'cause you sure aint Reel. If you did your homework, you would know that people are frequently assaulted, ( nicley called mugged ) in that area. It has been a dangerous area since the 60s and it still is.
Pay attention to the warnings being given you. It may help you not become another "vicitm" and allow you to leave the park with everything that you came with.

Two points. I have used the Gordon park ramp a lot and have never had any problems. On the other hand I have only used it during daylight or on warm summer nights when it was pretty busy.
At this time of year one may have to fish whenever the opportunity arises, which may be difficult if you are comibng from a ways away. On this past Saturday there was a period without rain or high winds from noon to 7pm. Went out and the fish were biting like crazy in about 45 feet of water off Brahtenal. The perch were not large. The two of us had to catch over 60 to keep 12 nice ones. All but 2 or 3 we released seemed fine. Seagulls took care of the ones that weren't. Then there were the white bass. Pulled out one double header after another. Decided to keep a bunch of really nice ones. Am going to cook'm up to see if they are any good eating.

duckman is RIGHT!!!!!!! if you keep using gordan park it will only be a matter of time before your vehicle is broken into. i use to fish out of gordan park for years with no problem. then, several years back lost two vehicles in one month. police and park patrol said that it is not uncommon to have several vehicles stolen out of there every month! go to rocky river!

Does anyone know if the new Edgewater will have a fish cleaning station like so many of the Parks & Launches in MI & NY?
Ludington & Manistee in MI & Fort Niagara in NY have excellent facillities. Stainless fillet tables & a grinder for the waste.
First class all the way. It seems they cater more to fisherman.
Just wondering if anyone feels the same way???
