I've got my dream boat waiting to be picked up. A ranger 620 VS, with a 225 OMC. I've got money down but I can still back out. I have been apprehensive to post this ? because I think I should bail out, and I'm not sure I want to hear that. On the other hand I don't think I can find a deal like this again. Very low hrs. lots of extras, it was a demo boat for the dealer. It's at the top end of my price range, but you can't take it with you right. Would any of you bail out because of the Evenrude engine? Thanks

If it is what you want, follow it through. there will be somebody pick it up, and then you may be sorry thay you didnt get it. if it is a proven one dont hesitate at all. good luck and good fishin.

Fritz,
I am glad it is you versus me. How long can you wait? Info on the boat board says bids for OMC will get opened in February.
Does your dealer sell Mercs, is it too late to switch?

I've got to have it paid in full by march first so the timeline with the bidding may be close. I can't put merc's on because it was a package deal, and the dealer is a big on OMC and thats what they put on there demo boats. This is just crappy timing. I've got a fully rigged 16 ft. smokercraft in the garage. It's for sale, but I might have to fish out of that again this year. That won't be the worst thing in the world, it's paid for, only problem is I already gave my dad a ranger hat and jacket for a retirement present. Good thinking, huh? How does that old saying go? Don't put the horse in front of the wagon.........

You probably have a better investment if you just go buy a technology mutual fund right now, and you know how risky they have been. Why gamble here? They would have to give me such a good deal that I could afford to lose a few more thousand down the road and still be ahead. Remember it may seem good to you now, but how good would you do a year from now if you need to sell? This is really a roll of the dice, when you can shop for another brand that is a sure thing. It is too bad when the lure and excitement of a new boat gets in the way of your better judgement. Kind of like a beautiful woman. Walk away, you will feel ok next week. You can still have fun shopping.
Fritz, Don't bail on the package. OMC will be back in operation very soon. I've owned 4 Ficht outboards and never had a problem with any of them. That 225 is an awesome engine. Tell your dealer to give you sixty days. If nothing has happened in that amount of time with OMC, you get your money back with no questions asked.

What kind of total package and price were you given? The reason I ask is that I own a 01' 620 that I'll be getting rid of next year. If you're interested in this boat and want to fish another year in your smoker, I can pass along a tremendous package to you. Let me know if that's of any interest to you.
