Although I have a little experience fishing West of the above area's I would like to fish the Huron/Vermillion,OH area in the near future and would appreciate any help on the below questions:

1.What size/length of Scorpion Spoons and Reef Runners have been effective in the Huron/Vermillion, OH area, also what has been the most effective running depth of these lures.

2.Are their any decent boat ramps on the Vermillion River?

3.Are their any "open" camp grounds in the Huron/Vermillion, OH area?

Please remember to wear your Life Jackets and use your Kill Switches; last Wednesday a good friend perished on the Ohio River when their Ranger bass boat hit a Log ejecting all three fisherman into the river, none were wearing Life Jackets, kill switch not used, two were rescued by passing barge that launched it's rescue boat but unfortunately one fisherman drowned/heart attack before he could be reached.

Thank you, and may you all continue to enjoy Lake Erie.

Reef Runners are the full sized ones. Most are using the deep diver, but there will be times when the Rip Sticks are better. !00 - 150 back has been best. But if the fish come up in the afternoon, you may need to shorten your drops way up.

Michigan Stinger size has been a mixed bag. I think most are running the little ones (Scorpions), but the middle sized ones are working as well. 30' down is a good starting point, but don't be afraid to shift em up or down.

Someone else will have to help you with ramps and camp grounds. Good luck

If you can find a room the prices are reduced this time of year and would be about as cheap as camping and alot more comfortable after reeling in all those fish..Try the Gull Motel(419-433-4855) or the Comfort Inn (419-433-5359) These are in Huron and there is a decent ramp there close to the fishing hot spots...

Airwave, Thank you for the tip on utilizing the "Gull Motel" in responding to my post on 18 Oct00. I have made reservations for next week. Experienced some good fishing out at the 31/22 area from 14 to 16Oct00. I usually head up to Little Bay DeNoc this time of the year but have not had good results the past two years. I fish the Port Clinton area in the Spring and Summer and have within the past year learned of the excellent fishing in the Huron/Vermillion area's. Thanks again for the assistance
