I have an older Magellan GPS that has a bad screen. Magellan no longer supports my current unit but offers an attractive upgrade to the 6000 hand held or the 6500 fixed mount. I would be interested in any infomation on this unit and comparisons with others like Lowrance or Garman etc... Thanks in advance for your help.

Both of these are excellent units.
With the C-map cards the detail is incredable.
Hands down the best around.
I like the 6500 in the boat the bigger screen is really nice.
The 6000 is a great hand held and easy to use.
But if you are in the boat as much as I am the big screen is hard to beat.
I believe the 6500 has been discontinued though.
You can still get them from select dealers.
