I've been interested in purchasing a Pinpoint system for around 2 years. I decided that this year, I would "take the plunge" and buy one. I was intimidated by some of the prices listed in Bass Pro and Cabela's. I checked out Thorne Brothers in Minneapolis after two of my fishing partners purchased theirs from Matt Thompson at Thorne's.
I told him I was interested in the Pinpoint system. His approach was a simple one. He explained the postives of the Pinpoint system in comparison to other electronic packages. I appreciated this approach because he wasn't trying to steer me in one direction. He let me make an informed decision on what electronic package was the best for me.
Well, guess what I decided? Pinpoint was the most cost efficient system for me to buy. I saved enough on the motor and a 7520 to also buy a 7500.
And Matt offered to install the system in my boat!
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the service I received from Thorne's. If you are considering buying a new electronic system, I recommend going to Thorne Brothers. They are the true electronic experts!
Matt gave me his card, feel free to call and ask for him at Thorne's, 612-572-3782.
P.S. They also offer free shipping to anywhere in the U.S.

Wonder why you chose the 2700 over the 3700 motor?

I looked at both, but decided on the 2700 because Iwas only realy intrested in depthtack. He carries both but left the decision to me,and since my fishing partners bought 3700 and 3900 series motors from him I would try the 2700.
I also do mostly depth track, but have the 3700 motor. The thing I like about it is the ability to see the "downlooker" transducer and the two "angle looker" transducers all at the same time on my 2520 sonar.

I would like to thank Matt Thompson at Thorne bros. for showing me the light. I ran an LMS-350A for two years with a Minn-Kota Auto Pilot and I thought I had a pretty good combo for my boat. Since he introduced me to the Pin Point system a year and a half ago I have not looked back. I used to use my 350A mainly just for depth because I could never seem to see any fish - not anymore the pin point 7500 and 7520 are so defined its unbelivable. I use my 3700 series Trolling motor for walleyes, northerns, muskies, and bass. When your fishing a 21 foot reef for walleyes it follows that reef you don't have to worry about getting out of position with this unit, you spend more time fishing and less time fighting the motor. If you want to fish a certain distance from shore it stays at what you set it, you don't have to worry about the lazer going crazy because it runs with transducers. Matt Thompson really knows this product well, he was able to answer every question that I could think of before I bought my system. I was just down at thorne's last thursday and I was blown away by their low prices, They were so low that I bought a 2700 series motor and a 7500 graph for my Dad's new crestliner (for an early birthday present). If you want a great deal on a Pin point System call Thorne Bros. and ask for Matt Thompson the phone number is (612)-572-3782. Tell him that Walleye Master Sent You.

I called Thorne bros. and priced a 7520 and ended up ordering mine from Reeds. Reeds came in about 120.00 cheaper.

I bought a Pin Point System, 7520 graph and a 3700 series from Matt Thompson at Thorne bros. in the middle of the summer last year. It was one of the best investments I ever put on my Ranger. I check around at a few sporting goods stores (cabela's, Reeds, and Thorne's) and Matt came in well below the others. Thats not the only thing, he really knows the product. If I needed a question answered he had it right away, the other places were a little shaky. Matt even installed the system for me, which was a bonus. I have told everone I know thats looking a new electronics to check out Thorne Bros. in Fridley, MN. Talk to Matt Thompson about Pin Points, You'll be glad you did.
I shopped everybody, and Reeds price beat them all. Of course it was the middle of the winter (January) so maybe they were anxious to move some inventory. I found both Thorne and Reeds to be very knowledgeable.

Being an out-of-stater I had no knowledge of Thorne's but I did just buy (this week) a 3900-60 / 7500 / 7520 with speed and temp / bracket extender / CBAY20 cable at Reed's and saved well over $200 from the Cabela's price plus free shipping. Just thought I'd give you all something to guage off of.
Free install is a nice little bone to throw in though.
