I am considering the purchase of a 2001 Chevrolet or GMC HD 3/4 ton crew cab truck with the 6.6 liter Duramax Diesel engine. I would like to know if there are any owners of these trucks on the board (extended cab or crew) and what they think of them. Thanks, Chris K

The engine in this thing is remarkable. Isuzu has been building engines longer that anyone in the world and it shows with this collaboration. The Allison tranny is also great, and should be great for pulling those big boats around. The cab is also quieter than I expected. All around a great truck.

i picked mine up monday night it is wonderful i got a extended cab 4 door 25oo hd the motor has much mor power than the power stroke and about the same power as a manual transmission equipped dodge the allison is a fine addition to the truck firm shifts and excellent jake brake action in the first tank so far i have been averaging 25 miles to the gallon empty i cant wait to get the boat out of storage if i had to buy another one though i would proably get a standard shift transmission well thats my two cents i traded a 454 in a 1995 pickup for this truck and i am as happy with the hew diesel as i was with the 454

I don't own one but I've driven two of these brutes at work. The pulling power is unbelivable and the motor is so quiet you will have trouble beleiving its a diesel! The allison trans feels just like you think it should and the 4 wheel discs are really impressive. Just be sure you really want and need one of these HD's. If you're not pulling really big loads [6500 lb to 12000 lb] far and often it may be too much truck. Good Luck in your decision.
:D is it time to go fishing yet?? :7
