View Full Version : Huron pier action?
In today's Plain Dealer, D'Arcy Egan said the walleye action has been hotter on the piers than on the boats. I have not seen anything on this board to bear that out. Can anyone confirm what D'Arcy says?
There have been some caught off of the pier, but not lots , especialy when you add the number of anglers to the amount of fish taken. the boats average is still better, and the best is coming both ways. good luck and good fishin.

The news paper reports are really not accurate. i believe the have a certain schedule where the fish are supposed to be and just follow that. Last year fall and spring they had the same reports and no fish was being cought. Spring is usually very good at Edgewater in Cleveland(except last spring) and fall is suppeosed to produce fish in Cleveland both at Edgewater and E 72nd. Last night I've pulled in 6 eyes at E 72nd on the first intake pier. That spot was allways good in the past this time of year (except last year). You don't hear about that in the paper. By the way, the paper did say that fish was being cought here about three, four weeks ago. There were supposed to but it didn't happen. If you're near Cleveland try that pier for the next two weeks and you will get fish.
Good luck.

Fishcrazy,
What were you using off of 72nd Street pier? I fish that area alot for perch but I haven't tried for Walleye yet. I was thinking about trying it this Monday. Do your tactics work only at night? What should I do during the day? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if you'd get them during the day. Thry right after sunset. Crankbaits work well. Floaters work best around Cleveland. Suspending and ratle traps work best at Huron. You'd basicaly cast your lure then when you bring it in make sure you feel the tension in your line. Medium to slow retrive works best now since the water is colder. You don't get hard hits now, just light taps. In the spring they're ripping the rod out of your hands sometimes. My favorit lure is the Riff Runner, Fire Tiger color or Clown color. It works great right now. I'm headding over to E 72nd. I'll let you know how it went.
