View Full Version : Huron Sat. Night
I am planning on fishing tonight from my boat (Sun). I was wondering how fishing was last night (Sat). If there was a bite, what time did they come in. Loooking for info from guys fishing both the pier and from boats. Thanks in advance. I will post tonights results on Mon. morning.

Only two boats out "late" last night. We stayed until 9:00 with no after dark hits and a friend stuck around until about 3:00AM and they only pulled two small ones. We went west, north, east, and all around the piers. Zip, zero, zilch......In fact, I was just logging on to inquire about the recent "tough" night bite and what other thought about it as well.
Very few lights on the pier.
The night bite started off great just before the cold spell three weeks ago but we haven't pulled any after dark on our last two trips out.
By the way, ice in the river was getting pretty thick last night. At least 1/4"+ from the Clarion all the way to the ramp.

Were you marking any baitfish in the river? Without that, chances are slim that the walleye will be there.
Good Luck!

Yes we did. Even nice marks all around the mouth of the river just haven't been able to get anything to go recently.
Good day bite but the traditional night bite areas and methods have had little success. We have even tried it at night outside where they were active during the day late afternoon.
Just curious if anyone has any thoughts or history info that might be helpful.
This year the water temps have fallen drastically at times rather than a slow progressive decline. Maybe that has something to do with it as well.
Fished last night, Sun. Same results as Sundance. We fished until around 10:00. No hits, no fish. We mainly trolled around the mouth of the river, the nickle plate and back towards the west wall. Plenty of bait in the river and we also saw the same nice hooks surronding the bait fish, but no takers. We were also doing decent at night two weeks ago, but I do not know what is going on now. We did not stay out there real late, so maybe the bite has been later or towards early morning. Last night was calm, relatively warm and a perfeect night, so i do not know what is happening. Talked with a few guys who fished during the day, they were pulling out when we were putting in. Some guys had 8-10 fish and others said they had over 30 fish they caught during the day. Maybe these fish are feeding during the day and not at night. The river was clear of ice to the ramps. The guys fishing the light house said that they did not have anything when we trolled by.
