we are currently trying to find a lodge / resort on winnie which will accomodate our youngest child with asthma. most of the resorts on the lake that i have stayed at in the past are "aged". his asthma will not take these places to well. preferably, we would need a CLEAN (free of dust, mold, mildew) and relatively modern cabin. hopefully with air conditioning. i have always liked the lake but have not visited the area in the past couple of years because of this issue.
does anyone have any suggestions, or possibly another resort on a nearby lake?
thanks in advance,
chuck

I have a good friend that has a cottage on Winnibigosh. Contact me by E-mail if you still need info and I'll put you in touch with him or act as a go between and see if I can get you some info. XCTYCoach@AOL.com
I teach and coach kids that have asthma. Ain't no darned fun. Just kills me to see a kid suffering like that.
Asthma is hard on kids, adults too. i've had it since i was very young. As a kid i remember wanting to die during one particularly bad attack. Attacks often occur at night. For years noone could figure out why. A few years ago i read an article in a magazine that said the problem was caused by something in the mattress and pillows. That makes sense, the sufferer has his face in both of them all night. I bought a zippered vinyl mattress cover and matching pillow covers at walmart, much like the ones they use in hospitals. There is a cheaper elastisised vinyl mattress cover that snaps on like a fitted sheet, but I don't think it would work as well. I'm 98% better since my mattress has been covered. Hardly ever use inhalers any more. When i travel, i take along some vinyl covers and use them wherever i sleep. A big sheet of plastic and some duct tape work good in a pinch. This doesn't answer the question you asked, but i hope it helps.
