I'm interested in information about Pelican Lake in Valentine Nebraska. We have been interested in the reports of the giant Bluegills that are caught there through the ice. Any info appreciated, bait shops, contacts, ect. Thanks in advance.

I've been to the Valentine Refugee Lakes three times. Last year we couldn't get on Pelican because of bad ice, but the 2 years we got out yielded some gills over a pound. Also some Jumbo perch and northerns. We stayed in cabins at the Merritt Trading Post. They sell bait, and the cabins have kitchens. Also a nice view of Merritt Reservoir. The cabins are about a 20 minute drive from Pelican. They have a website-http://www.merritttradingpost.com/. I'd definitely recommend getting out there.
