Does Abu-Garcia make a baitcast reel with a flipping switch? I visited their site but did not find one. Maybe I missed it. But if they don't make one, what do you consider being a good one. Brand, model, number, etc... Thanks for the info you will send. rawburt
There are a lot of good baitcasters with flipping switches. Quantum makes a few good ones, Daiwa, Browning. Lots of them out there.

I don't believe that Abu has a reel with a flipping switch. I like the Shimano Castaic, personally. The low profile is easy to fit in the hand and it is very smooth. Fred

How is it for casting, compared to a comperably priced bait caster?

I use the Mitchell Copperheads. Low profile, light, and a decent drag. I'm sure there are better ones out there for more money, but for 70 bucks, this is a pretty good reel. You might even find it cheaper. Depends on where you look.
Of course, if you want a free one, there is one down at Spring Valley, in the Illinois River...just fish the clam beds, next to the big power lines, and if your lucky, the tree monster will give it to you..;-) Dang trees.

Yep - As light as possible is important when pulling 3-ways on the Illinois. I found some Diawa's a few years ago(w flipping switch) that were designed for 'microbaits' and work great. Check with Diawa.

I'll second the vote for Diawa. Got mine for around $80.00 and I love it but any brand with flipping switch and several ball bearings will work for you. Spend what your comfort level allows but definitely get the flipping feature. I also use mine extensively for vertical jigging. Depth adjustments are easier and this allows me to run two rods without too much trouble. The Diawa's fully disengage the reel spool for casting. This is a nice feature.
