Heading up to the in-laws off Arneson's Rocky Point this weekend and looking for some updates. Depth, colors, etc.
Which reefs have been producing for you?

When you are in this part of the lake - there are three colors that outshine everything else.
1. Pink
2. white
3. Gold
During the day - 24-28 feet, in the early morning and late evening 15-20 feet.
The jigabits are working very well. If you haven't used these - they are basically a lead head jig with a fairly large Kahle hook on them. Hook the minnow through the tail -- actually start the point of the minnow through the vent, ans slip it up the side with the jig along the side of the minnow. Killer combination.
If you don't already have one -- get a "noodle" rod. A rod that is about 32 inches long that is as limp as ---- . Basically get rid of your bobbers. The nice thing about these rods, is that you can watch the minnow bounce the end of the rod. No need for bobber stoppers, bobbers tangling the lines or anything else. Drop the minnow to the bottom and raise it 3 inches and you are good to go.
Good luck.
With the stable weather that we have right now, it should be a great trip.
Take care
REW
p.s.
If you haven't tried them before the -- flash lures mady by -- ?? They are basically pieces of brass or silver that run 2,3 or 4 inches long. Tapered on the ends with a hole in the middle. On the ends of the blade there is a silicone ring. Run the line through the silicone ring, thread on the blade, and then through the next silicone ring. Basically the blade acts as a flasher to attract the fish. Also, on a free line in 20 feet of water with a minnow on a plain hook below it -- the minnow will "fly" off to the side of the hole as much as 10-15 feet. then gradually fly it back to the hole and repeat. Basically you can use this lure to "troll" a circle about 15 feet in diameter if you are in 25 feet of water. The blades come in brass and silver with various colors attached or not. With the silicone rings -- you can slide this flasher closer to - or further from the bait.
Enjoy.

Thanks REW. Have you been up there lately? Heard reports of a phenominal sauger bite, the likes of which have not been seen in 5 years. The 'eyes seem to be biting regularly as well. 18-26" are common. It's been a long time since I have seen one of those through the ice on LOW.
Practice catch and eat! <grin> JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!

Aquaman, We've had the best luck at 16 mile reef during the day in about 28 feet. Early morning and evening you might want to give Gull Rock a try.

REW:
I'm fishing LOW THursday through Sunday this week and have also had good success with Jig-a-bits. I didn't follow your hooking explanation :
"Hook the minnow through the tail -- actually start the point of the minnow through the vent, ans slip it up the side with the jig along the side of the minnow. Killer combination."
Could you please explain this again? What is the "vent".
Thanks!

REW;
I'm fishing LOW this weekend and have also had good luck with Jig-a-bits (fluorescent orange, fluorescent orange/chartreuese, shiny gold) out of Baudette.
I didn't follow your hooking suggestion. Could you re-explain? What is the vent? Hook the
>minnow through the tail --
>actually start the point of
>the minnow through the vent,
>ans slip it up the
>side with the jig along
>the side of the minnow.
> Killer combination.

Thanks Porter.
I am going to 16 mile reef first. I have my house out there now and will move it to Arneson's reef if the bite slows down. I know a lot of guys run out to 16 as soon as the reports come from there and leave the Ol' Rock ot 8 mile reef. I have snuck back there for some really good fishing when the season wears on.
Hey, Gopher, where are you fishing out of up there?
