Just wondering if anyone has fished Boyd lately? How are the perch and crappie doing?

Fished Boyd last Thursday. This was my fifth trip onto the ice at Boyd. Went out over 35 feet of water at the south end. In three and one half hours, had one bite, missed the fish. I would suspect it was a walleye because of location and the depth I was fishing. Another fellow who was there had fished the deep water the day before. He had seen some cats come through the hole. The crappie and perch are in the shallower water, up to 20 feet. Crappie action was good on early ice near the docks. Good luck.

Any info on Ice conditions? Also, do you ever fish Lonetree? I've never been there on the Ice. Have thought about it though.

The ice is 9 1/2 inches over 35 feet of water. Thicker in other areas of the lake.

I have been fishing it for the last three weeks and done alright,
we picked a few walleyes up shallow(6' or so) on minnows. The perch were shallow too. Last weekend I fished at the notrh end, started out in 25' and picked up one nice perch, I moved shallower twords evening and did real well on the perch. Sunday, went to the north-east corner and picked up a couple of crappie, a few perch and one dandy cat that probably went 12 or 13 lbs. Thought I had a big female wally. I was using one dead stick and jigging a Kastmaster watching my graph, I could see I was pulling a few lookers off the bottom, but on takers on the spoon. I switched the kastmaster for a jig/minnow and suspended it 3' off the bottom and thats when I got into the crappie. It was like clock work, drop it down two cranks and watch the finder, up one would come and the tip would bounce. The only "pattern" I have observed is fish the late afternoon into dark, the later the shallower, those crappie initially came out of 18' and I move into 10'. Keep moving, I dont fish a hole any longer then 10 minutes unless I pick up fish. I would drill, drop in my finder, jig alittle and watch the screen, no hits on the kastmaster, I would drop down a minnow with a slip bobber and open the bail, go ten yards pop a hole and jig. A couple of times I would walk back, the bobber would be down and I would pick up a perch. Good luck.
