If you have a GPS and feel comfortable about staying out on the ice until 6pm, you will catch fish. I fished tonight with a friend and we caught 20 walleyes from 5:10pm until 6:00pm on silver and light green pimples (#5) Becareful and make sure you know the ice, ice by Toledo is 15inches thick

Did you fish the area off of Crane Creek?Am going out Sat..Just wondering what area is best.

Fished off of metzger marsh, I heard that there were a few nice cracks off of crane creek. Off of Metzger marsh The main crack has closed up and there were two that need to be watched if there is a west or southwest wind. We fished today and left the pier at 3:30 and the crack was not open, but when we came back at 6pm it was open 3inches, but we had a west wind. Anything north will close the cracks and a northwest wind is supposed to come in tonight, we got 20 from 5-6pm. two guys

How far out did you go out.Do you know how far west to east the cracks run?

If your familiar with the pier at Metzger Marsh pier you head straight towards westsister island anywhere from 2.3-3miles out. the cracks run a long way east to west. we drove over top of them tonight but they were not opened to wide, just becareful and watch the wind, I would think the next few night should freeze the cracks. I will be out there fishing on Friday, I will give you a report of the cracks when I get back, the cracks should be a big deal as longs as the winds dont kick up

What time will you be heading out friday me and my nephew were going to go to catawba for the weekend starting friday morning but if you were going out maybe we could get with you and your crew and team up on them and see what we could do

If you aren,t that familiar with Lake Erie Ice,, MAke sure you are safe,, Go with someone that knows or hire a guide,, take care of your son,, take Life perserver, or better yet, I always wear a survival floation suit.. take Ice tongs around your waist incase you fall in,, take a rope along,

Don't go out from Metzgers the ice opened up about 1/2 mi out it is in bad shape now it's not SAFE .
