How's the ice and the fishing on the Saginaw River? The "Shiver on the River" tournament has started and just wondering how things are progressing.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-31-01 AT 10:44AM (CST)[p]fished sat. afternoon till 6:00 down stream of the Z bridge. pretty slow, of the more than 50 guys in that area didn't see any action. i didn't bring my sonar and wish i had. everyone seemed to be stirring up the bottom(22 ft where i was) with their presentation and i wondered if maybe the fish were suspending and our baits were never in front of their noses.
try calling live bait @ 517-797-8100 they're right down near the river and give pretty good info. if you start running into the fish please give us a heads up here and i'll do the same. we'll see what this sat. brings if the ice is still safe.

ps. last sat good ice 6", but not much snow on top. may wanna make sure you have ice cleats after the rain this past week.
