OK, what system of handheld GPS & marine units work best together for a complete package for the sportsman?

Uplinkable, memory, ease of use, locator or graph, etc..

Is there a package system available that would have the whole enchilada, including the locator that is not as expensive as a new truck?

I have never seen a integrated package deal myself?

Thank's

Backwater: I was at the Mpls sport show last night and stopped at the Reed's, Capra's and Lowrance booths. Did not see a handheld unit with both GPS and sounder in one. I think I read your post correctly. They do several mountable, that contain both in one unit. Priced up there though, but the details on the mapping and sonar is unbeliveable. And you can get up to 64 megs of memory, plus smart sticks for every place on earth. I'm looking for new electronics as my currant stuff is 8 to 10 years old. Check out the new units at you local show, I think you will be surprized. Lets go FISHING....Kaz

Ya know BE I'm having a lot of trouble with this one. Didn't you indicate to TM and I the other night that you were becoming one with our marine friends and were starting to "think" like a piggy????? I can understand the GPS (cause TM says you're lost most of the time) but a sonar to locate piggy????? So what gives???
By the way, get a fixed mount for the boat - it's a lot easier than fumbling with a handheld and a lot easier to see as you get older......You can get a $100 handheld if you need one for land use...

Ya-ya-ya, I am interested in a handheld that link's to a marine unit such as Eagle, Garmin, etc, so I can transfer data from season to season & unit to unit.

I was wondering if there be a better mouse trap on the market more recently that is more of a set or package deal, EH.

Piggy's, I don't need no stinking GPS to find piggy's, just need GPS to find my way home, eventually!

:D

Backwater Eddy,
The only graphs I knoow of that you can use a handheld as the gps are the bottom line tounament master and tournament champion. You can plug almost any handheld into the back of them if you buy the proper cable to link them. I have used the tournament master HR, but it didn't have the gps, so I cant help you too much, but I know you can plug handhelds into them and use the bottomline as the gps display. Hope I could help.

Backwater Eddy,
I don't think garmin has a graph that you can plug a handheld gps into, but I know that garmin gps's can be used on the bottomlines. I just checked botomlines website (www.cannondownriggers.com) and they didn't say anything about usings handhelds instead of their gps module, but I know you can. A friend of mine got a bottomline last year and I know his has this option. Cabelas also sold the bottomlines with a magellan handheld as a combo a couple of years ago. You may want to talk to a dealer for more info, I'll see if I can dig up any more info on graph and handheld combos.

Hi,

I have the units that will do what you want. Lowrances products of like mine is the Globalmap 100 and I also have the LMS160. I share the waypoints between these units all the time as the software is the same between them. I can upload and download the waypoints with the same software and trails and icons and routes between them. Not sure if this is what you are after or not, but This is what I am doing currently. I also am upgrading to the LCX-16CI when I can get my hands on one and that will incorporate the same design with the mapcreate cd software and navionics.
