Thinking about a family vacation to Crane Lake in mid to late June. Can anyone fill me in on the fishing opportunities or lack thereof in this lake at that time. Thanks in advance.
Is there any primative camping allowed on islands or shore line at the Crane Lake area? Would like to try fishing the lake during this coming summer.

djs,
Crane lake is part of Voyageurs National Park, and there are many established camping sites. Most have tent pads, toilet, many have bear boxes and some even docks. You are allowed to camp anywhere, but you cannot be within I believe 200 yards of another group of campers. You are able to boat/fish on Crane, Sandpoint, Namakan and Kabtogema lakes and even portage in to the east end of Rainy if you like. I have spent most of my time on Namakan, but there is walleye, smallmouth and northern mainly. It is a beautiful area. I believe if you do a search you'll find alot of info on resorts and the NPS will mail you a park map. Xplorer
