I am looking for a lake in Minnesotas to take my family crappie & pan fishing for vacation. I am interested in lakes with larger pan fish in them.

i used to go to the detroit lakes area near fargo nd....it was called the sunny capital of the world back then...the 70's when i was meat inspecting in fargo as a summer job during vet school .....i caught tons of really nice panfish in a state park there but i'm not sure the name of that park...i would pan fry up a mess of fish and all the local campers would come over for a fish dinner...i did this every weekend i was off so this was really a fun place back in the 70's....i remember there was a trout lake there also and i caught some totally nice rainbows on marshmellows ...fishing tight line one day....don't know if any of this is still that hot....also pelican lake back then near orr mn was very good for gills and crappie...that was some time ago...steve

I've spent a week with the family for the last four years on Lake Vermillion in Northern Minnesota. Nice sunnys & crappies, excellent walleye & smallmouth, also northerns & muskys. We stay at Life O Riley Resort. It's relaxing & fun!

There are several lakes in the alexandria area that are awsome panfish lakes. The sunfish and crappies are loaded in all these lakes Carlos,Pocket and Osakis to name a few. I belive lake Mary still holds the state white crappie record. You can't go wrong in this area to many good lakes to name.
