I just went through a thread in which some of our members are asking "What is our membership worth to us." "What are we getting for our money?"
I should introduce myself before I go any further. I am Charlie Moore and I have been hired by the NPAA to handle the day to day work for the NPAA. I handle tne membership drives, members only programs, etc.
I get ask the same question all the time on the phone. I have heard many different replies from different members. Some see the insurance as the benefit. Others see the members only program as the benefit. Others see the membership as a chance to show sponsors that they are serious about this business.
The main idea of the NPAA is to promote the sport of Professional Fishing. This does not simply include tournament anglers, but also guides and others who work in the industry. We want to promote Professionalism in the sport.
The newsletter was brought up in some of the post. Yes, the newsletter is changing. It will include some tournament results, but it will also include what our members are doing, new product releases from our Supporting Members, sponsorship responsibilty on the anglers part, etc. I think everyone will be happy with the changes.
I will say this to all members. The NPAA is growing rapidly and is on a uphill swing. I think you will all be happy with the changes you are going to see in 2001. This is an organization that has you in mind.
Remember, if you have questions, comments, complaints, or suggestions, I am always open for a phone call to discuss this with you. You can call me at 605-223-2136.

Please give info.

Just Wonering,
I am not allow to disclose all of the finicial information about the NPPA, but I can give you direction. The NPAA is a non-profit organization. The money goes right back into the organization to pay for the newsletters, the decals, kids events, applications, letterhead, office supplies, and business expenses, etc.

Technically, any Not-For-Profit (NFP) does have to give certain financial or any other information (Officers, board members, etc) if a formal request that meets the freedom of information act is delivered.

I'm certainly not picking on the NPAA, consider this free advice and worth every penny. I just happen to work for a NFP and I cringe whenever someone representing a NFP starts by saying "I'm not allowed". That's a pretty good way to lose your NFP status if someone picks a fight. It doesn't matter what you are allowed - what matters is what is required.

Just food for thought as you answer further inquiries.

I joined the NPAA for many reasons, mostly long term. But some of the benifits you can take advantage of right a way are boat insurance, and the spring Members Only products discount. Last year I saved over 150$ on fishing line,Off-Shore products, and many of the different Pradco lures.
I now also have the proper boat insurance for tourny anglers and guides. I was able to purchace this policy through the NPAA at less than half of what I could find, anywhere else in the country.
These are just a couple of the savings you recieve, along with the other benifits members recieve. Hear we might even get together and do a little fishing this year in a members tourny.Meet new people and fish new water. Dosn't get much better.

See Ya,

Are the rumors true about a possible NPAA Walleye Tournament? If so, at what level. I hope that it would be at a very high level, raising the standard and expectation of professional walleye fishing. Is there are sound plan in place?
