i have been looking at all the new combos that cabela's has out this year and was wandering if you guys think that they are good deals or not.
i'm thinking of buying some new rods reels this year that I need badly, I was looking at the shimano stradic/xml combo, and the platinumZX/xml combo, and the curado/ fisheagle11 combo.
what do you guys think about these, and or should I do it a different way? any help would be greatly apreciated thanks

I think these are great deals. The stradic is an excellent reel in anyone's book, and Cabelas makes some really good rods.

Combos are a great way to save money...But, make sure you don't compromise on what you want in a ballanced piece of fishing equipment. Good luck & BIG LIMITS <><...<><...<><

I think the best combo bye far this season is the Cabelas XML/Shimano Symetre combo for $134.98, you save $80. So you are getting the reel for free! It's in the tackle box spring 2001 catalog page 27.

That is a good deal, but the way I'm reading it their 6'6" medium light only comes in 2 piece rod. Am I reading this right. Sure wish I could get the 1 piece for that price. Check it out!

I think the 6 1/2 footer comes in a one piece in ML but maybe not in the combo your looking at. At least I hope so cause I just ordered one!! Check out the stratic combo for 179$ for that one piece. Good Fishing!

I guess I'm the next step up from you. I just got back into fishing after about a fifteen years absence. I talked to my wife's uncle (an AVID fisherman) about three combos that Cabela's offered in their Christmas catalog and bought all three. The Abu-Garcia Ambassdeur 6600CB, Shimano Crestfire, and Quantum Hypercast HC3. All I can say is, it made the uncle and two of my friends envious. It was nice to receive them with the rods. They're all filled with line and ready to go. They seem like they work fine for me. I'm just a novice who enjoys being by the lake.
