fished below the dam today not a bad day 9 total all walleye the biggest 20 inchs, 3/8 chartuse jig tipped with a fathed minnow seemed to be the prefered bait, it was a great day weather wise and there were only 4 other boats out, the walleye were deep 25 ft and deeper nothing in the shallows, also saw another boat get a few walleye but didn,t see any sauger caught (strange)

Hey Tom,
I've been thinking about that walleye trip for the last month. It doesn't look like I'm going to find the time to make it. My wife and I are trying to work on a real estate deal, my father-in-law just came down with pretty nasty disease and I'm headed for Texas in a couple of weeks.
I may get out on the upper Allegheny one day next week. This is pretty much an unknown fishery, I'm not sure how I'll make out but I'm anxious to try it. Good luck on the river this week.

I was at Lock 9 Saturday. Very slow. Got 6, all on a plain minnow & split shot on my dead rod. No bites on jigs & minnow. Caught all the fish at dusk at a creek mouth.
anyone fishing the Mon river from city limit upriver to duquesne beware of a law enforcement boat being on the water possibly this year. several communities are looking to put a patrol boat on the water and their main goal is not water rescue although they will be out there for that also. hopefully they will not be harrassing every boat that goes by to fund the project. i just wanted to give you a heads up on it. good fishing to ya.

Tom,
I live near Pittsburgh and always wanted to try fishing the
the river. Can you tell me where you launch to get to Highland park. Will I have to go through any locks. And where do you get bait?
