I used the Edge2 along with my X-70A for a year now and love it. The 104 khz transducer gives you a great shallow and slow speed look at things, and the 400khz is great for deep and fast stuff. The scroll speed on the screen is more than great, and the unit is set up to be two units in one. The definition and seperation are as good or better than the X-70A. The X-70A runs great right beside it (different frequencies)so this makes a great combo. I have used several units from different companies over the past couple of years, and think this unit is tops.

TBO,

What would be your "Best Guess" as to target separation on the Edge? I'd like to know how much better it is over the X-70. For instance, I can see a 1/4 oz jig in 30 feet by lifting the jig about 7-8 inches off bottom with an X-70. (Sometimes better, sometime worse) How does the Edge compare?

Thanks.

If my partnet fishes in the front of my boat with a slip sinker rig with a floater on the bait in 25 feet of water, I can see the floater rig as a squiggly line on the 400khz screen. If he picks it up off the bottom 3 inches, I can see his slip sinker off the bottom as a straight line under the squiggly line(squiggly line-wavey line, whatever)I will not usually see that slight of a seperation on the X-70A, but I have seen it, time to time on the X-70a, so conditions, as they change, they also change with the electronics. I would say that in general, the Vex, has more consistant seperation, will show more often, the slight variations that I just told you about. What is the standard, I have no idea, but I do know that at 25 ft. I can see a 3/8th oz. slip-sinker, 3 inches off the bottom. Hope this made sense.

I put one on the console next to a Bottom Line NCC5300 and after a season on the water the LC-507 is far better. Great detail, it shows true fish arcs, fast scroll rate, excellent backlighting plus the dual transducers - you have two locators in one.

I had the EDGE on my charter boat all last season used it next to impluse color and a map2000. I have had all the differnt types of unit in my time ie. paper, 3D lcr, color video. I would have to agree with the other posts. This is the best fish finder I have ever used. If another company can top the EDGE I would like to see that unit. Save your time get the EDGE end of story.

The edge2 looks interesting. i put out a question like this a while ago that got very little response. others have tried this same question in the boat/motor section. there don't seem to be many guys out there that know much about this unit. i hope you get a lot of responses. there are a lot of us watching this. i've got a question to add also... 1. would a 1/4 oz.jig be visable on both views at 30 ft?
