A moment of silence for all the die hard ice fisherman. The ice fishing in our area is over. The bays are starting to open up and there is a great deal of water along the shorelines. Shore fishing for spring northerns and walleyes has not yet started but should be going in about a week or so. Its a good time to start getting the boat ready. At this rate, the ice should be gone in about 3 weeks.

I have a group that is going to make a run out to Oahe for some walleyes. How is fishing out there in April versus May?

Almost time to make the run up the Grand and Moreu River!
Here we go again, another year of 45 minute rides out of swan creek up the moreau into a 25 mph NW wind, beating waves, getting a sore back, and getting soaked. Man I love summer!

Hoping to fish open water on Oahe April 4. How would you rate my odds?

Oh yeah! Nothing like getting caught down there in a freak storm too! I did last year. I ran out of Indian Creek to the mouth of the Moreau River. What a rough run that was!
I still LOVE it though. Sore back is worth it!
