Couldn't pass up the nice day so I took the day off and took a trip down to the Illinois in search of some eyes. What a nice day on to be on the water! To bad the fish took the day off too. Still nice to get out with Dad and wet a line.
Conditions: sunny, water temp - 47, wind 10 out of the NE, air temp 38 at 7:30 to 50 when we got off at 2:00, water visibility 6" (lots of debris floating at times).
Didn't catch a fish! tried everthing from jigs & floaters to cranks and zips. Nada, zilch. Only saw 2 dinks caught all day, both on the north side of plum. Lots of boats motoring up and down river in search of active fish. Also a lot of tournament guys prefishing for the MWC tournament this weekend doing the same. They didn't 'seem' to be doing any better. Still loads better than sitting at work!

I haven't been there this week and don't want to speculate whether or not that big pod of females is still on the flats.

Just kidding folks. Good luck to all who compete hard and play fair. To heck with all the boat chasers.
