Every time I fish the river it seems just about everyone leaves at dark. Does anyone have any experience on the river after dark? It seems like this should be a good option to beat the crowds. Do the jiggers switch to cranks, or is their still a jig bite? I would like to try it a little this year and see what happens. Thanks for any info , see ya on the river

It seems just us locals brave the dark, mostly handlining with rapalas and spoons. Beginning late april early may casting 1/4 ounce jig heads and twister tails up on shallow current breaks2-3feet deep and letting them drift or retreive back accounts for alot of those 10-12# you hear about and never see, they are there.

Another local says gary's right on the money. It's getting more crowded at nite I like the old days no crowds.Anyway ,make sure you go to some spots that you think hold fish and look during the day, water is low and gonna get lower.GOOD LUCK & GOOD FISHIN

Its still might be early for night fishing on the river but the BEST way to do it is handlining. Go to one of the local bait shops and get whats called pencil plugs. They're not worth a hoot during the day but are very effective at night. Rapalas will work too at night.
p.s. I got 11 eyes this week in the trenton channel. Had to work hard for them the water is only 36 degrees. Handliners were out doing jiggers(whats new).
