If you fish the river in tournaments, yes get your license. There are several big fish spots on the can. side of the river. It is more important for canadians to have a u.s. license because the can side is often to dirty to fish in spring. Some good spots around salt mines, fighting island, boblo island and about 100 more anyway good luck & good fishin
river is still dirty down towards Amherstburg, (licences) by boat you can go to duffs marina ( amherstburg ) or sunset marine in Lasalle or drive to Wallys Baits 3195 Sandwich st. windsor see ya on the river

Perhaps the greatest advantage of fishing the Canadian side is your ability to get away from the crowds. In GENERAL, I've found the Canadian side to be a bit less "snaggy" and certainly less crowded. It's worth the money - if you're catch and release, the conservation license is a bargain at $26 american.

If you fish the sturgeon hole or the north west side of Fighting island or Boblo island you are fishing in Canada.Buy the licence its cheaper than the ticket.

I read you can download the license off PWT's Mark Saks website discoveroutdoors.com, or you can go to Lakeside tackle, they usually make weekly trips to get them, or you can get lucky like I did, was at Bottomline Bait across from Lake Erie Metro Park, they had copies, and two days after I faxed it in I got mine.
