Im just wondering where these fish spawn. Do they all go up river or on fox lake they use the gravel bar on the north shoreline and on marie they spawn on the humps in the middle of the lake. etc...\
Thank in advance

My best luck has been on the middle bar and the SE corner of Marie and on the sand bar between Channel & Katherine. Good Luck. Fish n Bug.

I've always heard that in reality there very little successful natural recoupment on the Chain. That's why it's so heavily stocked. There is some natural spawning in Bluff and on the aforementioned bar on Channel/Catherine.
I was thinking of getting the boat out on Sunday, does anybody know if the lakes are open(free of ice).
Thanks

Lakes on chain are wide open. The local walleye tournament is today but with yesterdays wind dont know if they 'll do to well.

Top 10 teams turning in 3 to 4 fish. Results were pretty bad. Saturdays 50 mph winds tore up the lakes and they were not recouped by sunday.Winner had a 27" fish 6lbs and a 15 inch fish .94 pounds for a total of 7 lbs. The 3 and 4 fish creels were between 3 and 5 lbs (pretty sad. I did very well on the chain last year 10 fish over 24" by me and a buddy, dozens in the slot of 18 to 24 and always a decent amount of keepers 15 to 18". Expect this year to be just as good if not better. Off to a slow start though. Water temp is in the low 50's lake levels are a little low. Water is as muddy as it gets. Most fish were picked up in the southern lakes (fox).
