My friends are leaving to fish Erie Tuesday. They are staying at the Holiday Village by the Ferry. They would like to know where Wild Wing and Turtle Creek is from there. Also an area where the bite is. Kellys any good? Anything happening out at the cans? Thanks for the help. John

LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-01 AT 06:37AM (CST)[p]John, Wild Wings and Turtle Creek are west of Port Clinton on Route 2. Wings is just west of the Davis Besse nuclear power plant and Turtle Creek is on Humphrey Road (north off of route 2) a mile west of Wild Wings. Fish were being taken on the reefs over the weekends (it was tougher than the week before and you had to hunt for them). Didn't talk to any trollers, but I am sure some will post here. They were taking them earlier north of the cans A - D.

If your friends want to fish the reef areas they should launch at Turtle Creek - for the islands they should head east to Catawba; for the cans, Turtle Creek (I don't know of a launch in Port Clinton.
Does anyone know of a good map that shows the various points that bob oh mentioned?
Hi John;
Fished Lake Erie on Sat., Sun. and Monday. Limited out all three days fishing mostly out in front of Davis Besse Power Plant. Caught all males from 2 to 5 pounds. Also had some good luck around Cone Reef. We used bottom bouncers with night crawler rigs mostly. Did catch some fish using Helicopter jigs with night crawlers. Monday morning we limited out in 2-1/2 hrs.
Sure was a lot of fun.

Holliday Village (at least the one I'm familiar with -- http://www.holidayvillageresort.com ) is north of Port Clinton on Catawba. They are going to be quite a few miles (9-10) from Turtle Creek and Wild Wings.
TC and WW are closer to the reef and "can" type areas where the traditional spring bite is. That said, I have gone out with charter boats out of WW and Holiday Village in the early spring (this time of year), and have done well on both. Probably better with numbers out of WW, but size with HV.

Sam,
Try Yahoo maps - Oak Harbor - area is north of Oak Harbor. I would think it would locate Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant. Wild Wings is gas station/convenience store/bar/restaurant two roads west of the plant. Wings marina and camp grounds are north and to the west of business. I have heard (don't use the ramp so I don't have first hand knowledge) that Wings ramp is too shallow. They also are highest priced at $10. {First road is Green Cove Condos.} Turtle Creek is on Humphrey Road which is next road west. If you stay on Route 2 west you'll come to Fenwick marina. You can also stay on Humphrey Road and follow the turn west and it will take you to Lamberjack Marina and Turtle Point. Lamberjack has good ramp, but I have been told he has some shallow water in his marina. Suppose to dredge it I guess. All these marinas, except Wings, gain access to lake through Turtle Creek. The reef area should be on the hot spots map.
