Got into it with a tree-hugger while I was trying to catch some minnows from a stream. She went off about taking minnows and screwing up her nature by taking them, depriving the muskrats and other critters from a meal. If a stream runs by someones property is it part of their property? Anybody had any run ins with anyone like this? Not sure where I stand.

Bigger question, do I still need the minnows for Pymy this weekend? Want to do some trolling too.

Thanks fellow eyers,

Had a run in with someone like this opening day of deer last year. Dont you shoot my beautiful deer. But the farmer whos property we lease loves us for taking a few every year. Bit my tongue and when the OPP and MNR showed up she was told I was perfectly legal, and asked why she would approach someone she didnt know who was carrying a firearm ? Answer Those are my pets I drive by and see them just about every week. Well lady Ive done more than looked at them I plant clover and cut trees in winter for them to eat. Ive saved more than you will ever see. By the way I had her arrested for trespassing!!!

Way to go hunter. To answer your question wall hanger, if the stream runs through someones property, they own all of the surrounding property and the streambed. They don't own the water, the fish or the minnows in the stream, but you could still be charged for trespassing if you were on their property. If the stream forms a border to the property, then it becomes a matter of how far into the stream property lines extend.
