I hate to mention the word reef, but the area was tough over the weekend. Some friends took a few on the reefs but the most success was off Turtle Island in Maumee Bay area. It's about a 17 mile run from Green Cove.

I fished north of Niagara on Saturday and Sunday. I caught six fish each day with three fish Ohios. The fishing was tough, we fished about 8 hours each day to catch what we did. The fish seemed to move out of this area with the east winds. I heard Kelley's Island was hot on Sunday, but we didn't make the boat run there. Scorpion spoons were producing north of Kelley's, but we caught our fish on Reef Runners....Fruit Loops color.

I haven't fished that area yet this year, but historically when the spawn is over the fish start gradually moving further from shore. It seems early for that to happen already but this hasn't been a typical year. We usually follow them from in close to L Can area and then A Can area, etc, then move east to the Huron/Vermilion areas. Fishing overall has been good in the Ballast/North Bass to Middle Island areas this year so I haven't moved from there. I fished there last Saturday though, and only got 1 small fish all day. The sheepshead are starting to bite though, got several of them. Baaaaaaaaa

Hello guys,
I also fished the reefs with Dad this week end, and we only came up with 1 Walleye (3 1/2lb.) But I did get to land one of the biggest S---heads that I ever seen. It must of went 5 1/2-6 lbs. bit like a walleye and pulled like one. I run out of Turtle Creek, and I seen a few there but nothing to what it should of been. I tried everything except trolling. We caught the one on a Grey Tucker Harness. Hope that it gets better soon. The weather was great.

I'll be off and fishin the next 2 days. Hopefully the fishing will be better than this morning. Sure was a nice day to be out fishing though. I'm happy for that. Thanks fellas.
Bulldog.
Fished south of Toussaint and Crib on Saturday. Worked very hard at figuring out what they wanted. From 8 AM to 12:30 PM zero fish. Tried Jigs-n-minnows, blade baits, Erie Dearies, etc... Finally caught one on bottom bouncer and crawler harness. Switched all lines to the same and limited out in two hours. No color preference. Just needed to keep it slow and in contact to the bottom. The fish definitely preferred worms to minnows. Hope this helps.

Fished turtle island on Sunday. Looked all over for fish in 12-14ft just south of the harbor light. I move right off the east side of turtle island in 10ft using jigs and minnows and we picked up 14 fish in about 2 hrs. Couldnt get #15 or 16 to fill out. Had fun though. Will be out Thursday and Sunday, hope to get'em.
