We will be venturing south for our annual Lake Erie trip later this week. We've never gone this early, and would appreciate any help on where to go and what to use this time of year.

I saw a feature on Michigan outdoors last week out of Bolles where this charter boat was using something called a "blade bait" or "spinner bait" that looked like a blade with two sets of treble hooks, one on each end. Can anyone tell me more about this lure?

Thanks guys!

Mark, it looked to me like they were using Cicada's. It's exactly what they described - a blade bait that designed to be casted or vertically jigged. They're a fairly common bait that should be easy to find at a well stocked tackle shop.

Cicada. Good bait. Strong vibration jigging spoon.

Went south out of Bolles Monday 4/31/2001. Ran 4 miles south and started trolling to the Teledo light house. Caught 7 walleyes on the larger side. Used Deep Thunder Sticks ( gold and black ). Caught all fish between 7:00am and 9:30 am, after that time period nothing. Fishing should do nothing but get better. good luck. See ya Farmer
