I totalled out a boat last year and my current insurance company is dumping me. Who is everyone using and how well do you like them. (If it's not to personal what rate are you paying)

1) How did you total your boat? (just being nosey)
2) I use American Family for my aluminium Lund. It's an older boat (1973) and it's the only company to give me replacement coat insurance at a reasonable rate.
3) For classic or wooden boats, pick up a copy of "Wooden Boat" magazine. You will find ads for companies that specialize in insurance for older/clasic boats.

I hit a submerged tree on the Missouri river. I was powering up to max speed when I hit the tree. Running back to Chamberlain I could only get her up to 30 mph and both pumps were running for the nine mile journey. A my boat (was) a 99' 1950 Tyee gran sport with the I/O.

I use Progressive. I had a similiar situation with my auto insurance. Kids had a couple of accidents and my insurer almost doubled my rates. I found Progressive and have been extremely happy. I use them for the cars, camper and very soon for the new boat. Check out their website at www.personal.progressive.com. You can get a quote right on the web. Good Luck! Fred

Don: You will get the best deal where ever you have your other insurance. I have American Family and get multi discount because of boat, home, auto, and RV coverage.

I just got off the phone with progressive, They quoted 641.00 for one year of coverage. 30,000 on boat trailer, kicker and 3500.00 worth of extras. We normally have all of our insurance together but due to the boat accident it's looking like I should put the boat on a seperate policy for a couple of years. If I don't most companies want a high deductable on the house and everything else.

I hit a rockpile 3 years ago with my 70 hp Yamaha and American Family payed for a whole new lower unit, gears, driveshaft and stainless prop. I paid a small deductible. They somewhat frown on SS props cuz there's no give in them but they paid with a smile and didn't threaten in any way.

ANPAC I switched to them a couple of years ago. They had the lowest rates I could find, especially when you looked at putting your home, vehicles and boats on the same. They also were easy to deal with this fall when I hit a submerged object. They got out to the dealers immediately and we had a check the next day in the mail. Best insurance experience I've had by far.

State Farm insures my 1998 Lund Tyee 1850 Gran Sport and my house, truck and automobile. I carry about $27,000 on the boat, equipment motors and trailer as well as $100,000 watercraft liability. My yearly premium last July was $386.

GO to there web site and contact them. I have it and it is very reasonable considering they insure all of my tackle and I feel very comfortable with them.
