Cabin fever has set in, so I've taken to removing the standard clevises from all of my crawler harnesses and replacing them with the "quick change" variety. I did it as much for the ease of stowing the harnesses w/out blades as for the flexibility in changing blades. Now that I'm done, I'm having fevered dreams saying that I should have kept some with the original clevis. Do these plastic quick change clevises work as good as the original metal ones?

It's another month or two 'til ice out; I've got plenty of time to switch them back.

Don't worry, they are evey bit as good and more.
I only use quick change clevis's, and I lose them to bite offs (Big snakes in the St. Louis bay and I use 17lb. XT!!!)more than wearing them out.
You won't regret it.

You have time.
Just tie some of each up.

#1) The quick change clevises are every bit as good as the metal ones. You won't regret it.

#2) Tie some of your harnesses with Fireline and see what you have been missing! No more bite offs!

Rest easy my friend, you have done well!!

Yes, the quick-change clevises work as well as the old type. As a matter of fact in most applications, they work better, because of the obvious reason, being able to change blades. I make most of my spinner rigs(99.9%) on the water, when needed, and so the quick-change suits me perfectly. Your next cabin-fever project is what???? How about sharpening all the jig hooks in your box. That's not funny, most people don't ever sharpen a jig hook, even the new ones are dull about 75% of the time. As a matter of fact, in a tourney, if there is a jig bite, I will spend an hour or so in the evenings on tourney days sharpening jig hooks, so I don't have to take time on the water. I just assume all of them are dull. Another project is to check all the trebs on the crankbaits. I always sharpen them as well, after checking for damaged or broken hooks.

So, if you think you have nothing to do, you better get to work Mister........hahahahahahaha

I know how you feel, I am making rods, left and right.....I get the shakes, have trouble breathing at times, walk in circles, and pace a lot.....but open water is close by, hang in there.
