I along with my buds have been looking for a deal on Rapalas. Can a person buy direct for an order of 100 or more or is there some other place I could check out? I don't mean to be cheap but... you never see these on sale. Maybe there isn't much of a markup and the tackle shops are doing the best they can.

At the southwest corner of Mille Lacs, just where 169 narrows to two lanes and continues up the west side of the lake, there's a pawn shop/general store. Don't remember the name, but it's off the highway on the west side -- they sell Rapalas cheaper than I've seen them anywhere else. If you are in that area, you will be pleansantly surprised at what you might find there. Have a good search.

I found some floating raps on sale at wal-mart in the clearance section for $2 the other day. Needless to say, I stocked up a bit. They were size 11 in the vampire and natural finishes. I also picked up 4 reefrunner little rippers there for 2 bucks a piece and a couple zara spooks for smallies in the boundary waters. I know this doesn't help you much, but check out the mart stores for discounts every once in a while, especially at times of seasonal changes when their inventory is being changed around. They will be trying to make space and you can find some excellent deals. Also, in June every year there is a little street sale in my hometown and the hardware store liquidates their leftover lure inventory. Good thing their normal prices are high enough that they usually have some great stuff leftover. Last year I picked up four size 13 countdown raps, 2 yo-zuri baits, an excalibur shad lure, and a couple other baits for 14 bucks (~1.50 a piece). If you let me know what you're looking for around the beginning of June I'll keep an eye out for it.

I guess the only help I can give you is to keep checking around for deals, they're out there.

Good luck!

James

If you go to the Bismarck boat show (first weekend in Feb.)look for the tackle dealer from SD. They usually beat ND prices. then again, when they are in town, Scheels prices seem to get magically adjusted downward.

If you find the lures cheaper then Scheels I know that they will match the prices if they can get some sort of verification by phone or print ad.

The place Cisco is talking about I beleive is Northstar Outback, there located 3 miles north of onamia at Hwys 169 & 27 south end of lake Mille Lacs, (320-532-4558), hope this helps. James could you tell me which wallmart you went to?, as the wife wants me to take her to one tomorrow and I my well get a deal on lures instead of tagging around with her. Chad where is Scheels?.
Thanks eastshore (Big Pine Lake)

Eastshore,
The Wal-Mart I went to is in bloomington, IL but I'm sure they all have a clearance section. The one in this building is in lawn and garden, but it may be different out by you. I would just ask where the clearance section is and snoop around for sporting goods in those aisles. There should be some fishing stuff in there, hopefully some great deals. Hope it works out for you,

James
