what up with this. I like it. The already have an edge over Bass Pro because they don't sell Nitro like Bass Pro does. One thing they do need to do is change the Evinrudes and Johnsons to Mercs.
Be nice itf they sold Yamahas and Hondas.

What brand of boat or boats are they selling out of the catalog?
Thanks,

Why would you want Cabela's to lower their standards and sell junk? Mercury's do make good anchors though. LOL
Supertroller, I'll second that comment.

These boats are all made by Outboard Marine, which is the Johnson-Evinrude manufacturer -- that's why they don't come with Merc or any other OBs. Try to find a Lowe or Javelin package that's not equipped with an OMC outboard.

Wow - great post!! You managed to offer absolutely nothing productive while still bashing three reliable brand names. Man, keep 'em coming - I can't wait for that next bit of "walleye wisdom."
Good luck

Good luck getting service on Johnson or Evinrude if you buy from cabela's. My dealer is not to happy that Cabelas can undercut prices and ship motors still in the box. If he delivered a motor to a cust in a box he could loose his dealer licence. He also mentioned that if someone brought a motor in for service that they bought from Cabela's he would show them the door.

Not that I disagree with you (I think dealers should be allowed by the manufacturer to compete with these folks), but if they refuse service do they not also stand the chance of losing their dealer license?

A neighbor "gave" me a 1966 Starcraft Holiday with a 1967 Evinrude 80hp Starflite engine. The boat sat outside UNCOVERED in Michigan for eleven years. I bought a new fuel tank and lines, flushed out the water pump with a garden hose (a wasp nest was in the exhaust), put a battery in and started cranking. After turning the mixture screws in two turns and out two turns the thing started right up!! I've taken it from Lexington Mi. to Wyandotte Mi. (95 miles) many times. I never changed to plugs!! I would never knock an EVINRUDE.
In those Good Old Days O M C made quality motors no longer .

Funny you should think that Mercury makes good anchors. Last time I checked FICHT was the way to spell anchor...LOL
I'll keep my Mercury OPtimax Thanks.

This is adressed to Tom(mich) I don't like evinrudes as much as mercury but i sure as **** hate nitro boats. Their a cheap imitator to Ranger and other quality boats. Tracker Boats are the same way.

Imitation....interesting these comments on imitators of other boat companies. Along the same lines, how many of us are actually posting these messages on an IBM computer, or just one of the hundreds of "imitators" that are out there? Do we have the original, quality machine or just a cheap knock off? Boats may be in the same situation.
If it floats, gets you there and back and is what you want, then it's a good boat for you. Lets not get so snooty on the brand names and stick to Cabela's selling boats. Do they service what they sell? Do they know the product inside and out, as one would expect a boat dealer to? If so, perhaps it's good that they sell boats.
This is no different than the Michigan people going over to Canada and buying outboards (any brand) for a lot less many than the Michigan dealers can sell them for, due to the exchange rate. They still are going to expect service on them here in the States. The smart dealers should hold them for a few weeks before they fix them, if they choose to fix them at all. Cabela's will not service anything, just like Tracker at Great Lakes Crossing, they do have a service center near them, but you can/t get anywhere near it.
