I want to buy the red clips. The Offshore site sells them at $7 for 2. Is there anywhere I can buy them cheaper??
Want to stock up as I lost a few last fall.
Thank you

Your best bet is to buy some Roach clips and replace
the off shore ones. They hold all lines much better!

You can get them at Fleet Farm (Oakdale MN store) for $9.99 in a 4-pack. The red ones show up occasionally. I use the black ones and they work just fine.

The Roach Clips are too big for snap weights. (In my opinion, of course)

Losing snap weights can get expensive.

A good way to stop losing them is to attach a large snap swivel to the snap weight and then to the line. If the clip comes loose it just slides down to the lure or bead stop if you use one. I haven't lost an offshore snap in 2 years doing this. Before that I was buying 10 or more a year. Sheepshead have a special knack for shaking them loose. Do the same thing with the boards so that if they pop loose, you won't have to turn around to go get them. I actually watched someone net one of my loose boards once and then swear they didn't.

If you buy direct from Off Shore though, you will be guaranteed to get the new red clips, with the pin in the center of the two pads. This will hold the snap weight to the line, as long as you place the line on the back side of the pin. You won't lose them. Most stores will have a lot of the old releases to get rid of, and you may not get the ones with pins in them.

Just a thought...;-)

Hold on everyone! Off shore will have some awsome new clips soon. Hopefully they will be ready by the time the sport shows hit the BEST WALLEYE STATE--- MICHIGAN. Sorry MN folks. If you still want to get the or-16 clips contact Franks Great Outdoors in Linwood MI. He sells them by the 10 pack for about $25 or less. The have a web site also. Hope this helps.

Is there a good way to identify the new clips? I picked up two packs at Gander Mountin in Aug last year. One pack was the old style and the other was the new style. Both were packaged with the OR-16 part #. Further, I bought the snap weight set for a buddy at the same time and they had all the new style clips. The new style is DEFINATELY superior to the old. Good Luck!

I talked to Bruce DeShano last night and he said that the new clips were filtering in to the market by last May, so most stores should now have more of the new ones than the old ones. I guess the only way to tell is to open the package carefully at the store and look at them before buying. If they are the wrong ones, then you can simply repackage them with the help of a stapler..;-)

I think I will try that little technique at the "Smiley Barn" tackle shop this weekend. Thanx for the tip ;-)
