I am making the drive out next week for a few days of hog hunting. I have my cranks, spinners, and boards all packed. Now I need to know where the best bite is at and a cheap motel recommendation would be helpful too. It is a long drive so another hour or 2 won't be a problem. From Michigan to Ny, wherever the best action is at.
Thanks

Check some of the previous posts. I think you'll find that most of the action is still in the western basin, but the area around Huron and Vermillion will probably pick up soon and the fish are often larger in that area. Whatever area you decide on there are ample hotels, cottages, etc in the area. Good luck.

Vermilion, Huron, and Lorain are heating up now. Most of the fish are being taken in water depths of 31 to 38 foot of water. the fish are at depths of 13 to 25 foot. the best colors are copper, wonderbread, rainbow, flame, and purple. this is in spoons as well as cranks. drifters are doing good on the copper blades, and green, or chartreuse bodies. it is not fast and furious yet, but is getting better everyday. good luck and good fishin.

Either listen to Den (in this posting) for the Huron - Lorain areas or go to www.cliftond.com and listen to what Dean has to say about Islands area. Both men have the best advice on the lake.

I'm going to try the North side of Kelly's on Saturday and A,B,&C cans on Sunday. I have some family in the Port Clinton area and they have had great success in the last week. Most fish have been in the 3-4 lb range. Biggest all week was 9lbs. I think your best bet is the Western Basin.

Tom, will you have your cell phone with you? I plan on starting around Ccan or around there. I will have my cell phone and will try to get ahold of you.
