I troll crankbaits (Rapalas) on bottomwalkers in river current and have been putting scents (Berkley power scent, Smelly Jelly, or the like) on them. My wife tells me my tackle box is starting to have interesting smells coming from it. Do any of you wash your baits iin no-scent soap at the end of the season to prevent the scents from getting rank? Some scents, like Smelly Jelly, stay on forever.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! the smells of summer, If they made a colonge that smelled like outboard gas and bait I'd wear it... I would call it "Baitshop number 5" kind of catchy I think.. :)

Usually at the end of the day I'll take a washcloth or rag and wipe off the lures (if I think of it). Once in a while (especially if I get skunked!) I'll take a bunch of lures into the kitchen and soak them in hot water with some borax and lemon joy and scrub off all the old gunk. Dunno if it helps but it makes me feel better!

If you want to get rid of the smell just spray them with some of your "Non-Scent" that you use for Deer hunting. This sound get rid of the scent. I use it all the time on my rain gear when it starts to get skanky.

You can run them threw the dishwasher.
