The fish are starting to move into deeper water as the temps rise. If you are fishing on the south end, Sloppy joes reef out from Izaty's turned on last week. The depths range from 24 feet on the top of the flat to just off the edge in 28 feet. Or gravel bars along the south shore have been picking up as well. Depths ranging from 17 feet on the small rocks to 23-24 feet on the gravel are holding lots of fish. Leeches and crawlers are still the best baits.
If you are going out on the north end, the mud flats have been hot. For daytime fishing, try using a 6 to 8 foot snell with a white glo hook and chartruesse bead or a plain hook baited with an inflated crawler (Some guides have said smaller crawlers have been working better than the big ones right now. You need to experiment.) Drift or troll over the top and sides of the flat until you find where they are.
Evening fishing has been good on the rocks in 16 to 18 feet with a bobber and leech. Try to position yourself just off the rock piles try a jig, (white/orange glo jigs were working well last week.)
If it is cloudy and windy, the fish will be sitting in the rocky shallows. The windier the better bite.
Good luck!!!

Mille Lacs is going S-T-R-O-N-G!!
Gravel & Rock bars 25-30ft running BB's and spinner/Crawlers. Bring lots of crawlers! My partner and I boated 135 fish last Thurs-Sunday! The mud is also producing bigger fish (where I'm headed to Friday) using a Lindy rig (10' snell) and a leech. Try the top edges in the morning and evening, but as the day wears on and/or fishing pressure increases, try deeper edges.
Fishing is soooo good, I can almost guarantee you will catch between 10 to 30 fish a day. The fishing right now is the best I have ever seen. And I have been fishing this lake for 30 years!
Good Luck
