Just looking to find out a possible spot in Michigan to fish walleye. I live in northern mich and to say that fishing has been poor is a understatement. Any input would be great.
thanks

If you just want eaters, the Detroit is full of dinks right now. Getting a few up to about 4#, no big girls. Also getting alot of smallies and the occasional muskie. Muskies are everywhere but no one is fishing them, and they are definite considerations for the wall. I believe minimum is 42" and no one keeps those little ones. Worth a thought.

You aint kidding, been getting a musky or a tiger every other trip
fished our club tourny sunday, and could barely get a limit of wallys for all the smalies (15 to 18inch)and a tigermusky about 15#er,got him to the side of the boat and my friend freaked out and steped on my leader and the musky jumped and was gone, great fishin in the river, night time is the best,

How far north?? UP or LP??

As far as the northern LP, Hubbard has been decent as well as Black. Have a friend who lives on Black and he has been getting consistent catches in the evenings.

There are many, many small eyes in Hubbard and they can be frustrating sometimes. Don't be afraid to move to find active fish and always change presentations - if you don't you may not catch fish there. Sometimes I get stubborn and fish in one place, one way and the fish win. Usually if I break out of the rut, I'll manage enough for dinner.

Long Lake and Grand Lake have walleyes as well, but I have not heard of any fantastic action there - many times not much pressure. It seems as though most people in northern Michigan start to focus on salmon this time of year and forget the walleyes - fine by me.

Best of luck
Bob

Houghton has been pretty good as long as the weather stays steady, try edge of weed beds staight out (on a N.E. line from Holiday on the Lake) with slip bobbers and leeches.REal early and late. Milfoil is a BIG problem now so stay clear or you can actually get your boat stuck.

Brest Bay on Lake Erie has been excellant for 18-24 inch walleye . We saw one boat had brought in a 10 lb walleye . Monroe, Mi has a good state park access and camping at Dixie Rd exit off I 75. We fished tuesday limiting out right away in front of Stoney Point and the Fermi power plant in 19 - 22 fow . We used crawer rigs behind bottem bouncers and as the wind was brisk could also troll hot-n-tots behind 1/2 ounce in-line weights . Had many double and triple hook ups . Reminds me of the good old days on Erie .
Go get some !
