Going to Leech Lake for the 4th for a few days. Any recent reports or help would be appreciated.

Just spent the last week up on Leech having and seeing some pretty nice eyes brought in. The summer bite is certainly on. Most of the fish were caught in deeper water but not all. All of the deep water adjacent to most rock reefs such as big rock, mokey, gary's, and others produced very well. Both leeches and crawlers were very productive with crawlers my choice by weeks end.
Stayed at Stoney Point Resort and had access to the main lake and all of these rock reefs within a very short ride. Many very nice 3-6 lb eyes caught during the week with the bite getting better as the week went on. Even the mayfly hatch didn't seem to slow things down much as we stayed on the rocks and away from the mud and grass.

How's the bite for trolling motors? I hear they just jump off your boat up at Leech.
