Does anyone have any advice for people new to the area about where this "line" exists? Are there gps coordinates that can help anglers determine where they are relative to MI/Ohio? I just want to be legal and I am sure I have found myself close to this line in the past. I carry both licenses but sometimes I have guests that do not. Thanks to all.

There are no markers on the water. Turtle Island is right on the Ohio/Michigan border. If I had my GPS I could give you exact coordinates. Someone will probably post them. If not get a good chart and figure them out. The line about 45 degrees north (225 south)off Turtle Island.... I'm looking at a chart of the whole lake. Turtle Island is not marked but the state line is. The chart labels the line at 220 degrees south. It measures closer to 225 degrees. Maybe someone can explain this.

the line starts about 41Deg 44Min/83Deg-25Min and runs about 45 Degrees NE to 41Deg-57Min/83Deg-07Min, this is from a digital map on my puter so i'm not sure how accurate it is but it should be close.

Bill, can you recommend a "computer" site that I might visit to help me with the GPS numbers? What I'd really like to know eventually is, when I'm on the lake and take a reading, I should be able to know if I'm in MI or OH. Thanks again.

I just found this site, there is a lot of information from what I have seen, Go out and pick up a Fishing Hot Spots map for the Western Basin, most bait shops and marine stores carry them, I has a longitude and lattitude grid on it, just match the numbers from your GPS to the grid and you will have your general location on the lake

Hope this helps you out.......Bill W
