I have been fishing Mille Lacs for the last 8 years plus. The fishing up here is better than I have ever seen it. This year I have made 9 one day trips to the big lake 6-8 hours of fishing each. Many fish and many big fish. I am not a guy who goes out for just keepers I am looking for the trophy size fish (27" plus is my goal). There is no place better to go within 1-1/2 hours from my house in the state of Minnesota. I have not got the big one yet (30" plus) but over the last 2 years many fish in the 26"-27" with 2 28-1/2" and 29-1/2" being the biggest. The bite will probably slow down but until it does I will be there.

Good luck to all who come and may the "Big Eyes" Bite.

P.S. Don't give all the credit to the DNR. They are doing what they are doing because the issue is forced with the Treaty rulings of a few years ago. For me it is a good thing! For the resorts who make money off the people looking for dinner it has been ruff.
