Am considering Cabela's Guidewear - uninsulated jacket and bibs. Will use it mainly for spring and fall Lake Erie-type conditions. Is this gear worth what it costs? Has anyone tried the "lite" version of Guidewear? How does it compare to the regular version?

Go with the regular Guidewear. You won't be sorry. It is worth it's weight in gold IMHO. Mine is going on three years now and still looks like new. Cabela's also stands behind their products, so you won't have to worry if you have a problem. Fred

I went with the Lite and am very happy with it. I can still wear it when its warm out and raining. I think that it breathes a little bit better than the regular Guidewear. I bought it large enough that I could layer for fall fishing. Either way you will be pleased.

Bought bibs and jacket at the Cabelas outside Twin Cities last June. Paid a pretty penny for those puppies(as you know) and took a good ribbing from the 3 Amigos traveling with me. Guess what, rained everyday except one that we were in Ontario. I stayed dry as bone and as was never cold. Can't say the same for the 3 Amigos.
Could have sold that Guidewear to any of them with a hefty mark up. Spend the money, you won't be disappointed. There's not many things you can say that about anymore.

I work outside at the airport at night 7:00 to 11:00 PM.
I bought the guide wear insulated. I can not wear more then a flannel shirt and jeans or I sweat to much. I have been wearing it since Late November. It does not show any wear. Warm and dry. A good choice.
